Mid-South Fly Fishers

Education - Conservation - Fellowship

HomeEducation Overview

The mission and purpose of the Mid-South Fly Fishers is to improve and increase the sport of fly fishing in the Mid-South; to encourage and advocate conservation in the waters of the Mid-South; to encourage and assist others to become fly fishers; to promote the pleasure and fellowship of its members; and to engage in such activities as may be necessary and expedient for the achievement of the above stated purposes.

One way we support that mission is through our Education program. From a formal side, the Mid-South Fly Fishers puts on two Introduction to Fly Fishing classes, two Introduction to Fly Tying classes, and two Rod Building classes per year. Details about these classes can be found under the Education menu.

To continue down the path of learning about this sport, and you will never stop learning, our monthly meetings include a speaker who will provide detailed information, tips, and techniques to improve your fly fishing ability and enjoyment. We have 3 to 5 nationally recognized speakers and the rest will be local fly fishing experts.

Just as important as the formal training, the informal education you will get by developing friends in the club, tying flies together, attending club outings together, fishing together and just talking fly fishing will prove as valuable, if not more valuable as the formal training classes.
