As you may have heard, our club is the official sponsor of the fishing exhibition for the National Veterans Golden Age Games that will take place in Memphis on Wednesday, June 4. We’ll have the privilege to teach 120 veterans an introduction to fly fishing at the Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters.
Four groups of veterans – 30 veterans in each group – will come to the fly fishing exhibition for a 2-hour session that will include an overview of fly fishing gear, basic casting techniques, knot tying and a fly tying demonstration. Each group will also get a chance to fish at the pond located on the DU property.
We need 15-20 Mid-South Fly Fishers members to volunteer to assist with these veterans for the morning and afternoon sessions. We will have MSFF event captains teaching the various breakouts, but we need volunteers to assist veterans with casting, fishing, knot tying, and moving from breakout to breakout around the Ducks Unlimited grounds.
We are asking for volunteers to serve in either the morning sessions (6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) or the afternoon sessions (11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or both. Volunteers will be provided a free Golden Age Games t-shirt and lunch.
Volunteers must register through the Golden Age Games portal and sign a liability waiver. Please consider taking a half or whole day to serve our veterans and giving them the gift of learning to fly fish.

1. Visit the NVWG Volunteer Registration site at https://39nvgag.my-trs.com/
2. Click on Register Now.
3. Choose Registrant Group – Mid-South Fly Fishers and enter access code: MSFF25 (all caps). Then click Select.
4. Click on the + (plus sign) to show morning session (6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) and afternoon session (11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Click on either session or both, depending on your availability to serve. Click Next.
5. Create an Account and Complete Registration. You will be directed to a page to fill out personal information and sign a waiver. You’ll also be asked your t-shirt size for your free volunteer t-shirt.
6. After registration, please send an email to Drew Harris (memphisflycaster@gmail.com) and let us know which session(s) you signed up for so you can be added to the club’s volunteer list.
